The growing pace of the work life and increasing expectations for numerical results takes a toll on the mental being of many of us. This stress has to be handled well with utmost care to prevent any spillovers (fits of rage) and remain healthy. A good mental being is what drives propagation of new ideas.

Quality me time

The moment that our mind is cluttered with tons of mess, our creative juice is minimal. This is why we ideate better after long showers, vacation or a mere walk alongside the nature. A valid question to ask here is “What can you add to your routine that will allow you to : feel calm, put your creative hat on and think of new ideas and innovative solutions to problems”. In this way two birds- keeping calm and goal achievement, are slain with one stone. You can thus be smarter instead of working harder in approaching the issues and problems in your life, henceforth increasing the quality of life.

Continuous learning

Bill gates is famous for this. He reads more than 50 books an year. Warren Buffet reads 500 pages a day. Because the high achievers understand that “the more you learn the more you earn”. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, only leverage other’s mistakes. So that way you get to accelerate from their mistakes, as opposed to repeating the same things that dont work. This is a great factor that separates the successful leaders and entrepreneurs from the average achievers. Successful leaders want to learn and grow but ironically- the averages, act like they already know everything. Albert Einstein has very beautifully captured the essence of this in a quote that goes like “The moment you stop growing, you begin to die”. Thus, consider educating yourselves at every point in life.


Google and Facebook are famous for this. They have these hack-a-thons where they allow their programmers to try something new and novel. This is how GMail was invented. Getting validation of your talent gives a sense of achievement and confidence. Areas for improvement can also be identified and worked upon for better self growth. Increasing the skills sets of the employees not only benefits the employee on an individual level, but also the quality of services in the organization get increased exponentially.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results

So I evoke you to escape this loop of mediocrity and take  steps towards achieving excellence. There are these subtle nuances of the everyday routine, if tweaked can cause huge transformations and increase the quality of life.
